Made in New Zealand

About Manufacturing

Extrusion, powder coating and fabrication — our ClearSpan systems are made in New Zealand, at our factory in Kumeu, West Auckland.

New Zealand made, start to finish

UGS grew out of an engineering business, and that shows in how the systems are built. Every ClearSpan profile is extruded from New Zealand aluminium, powder coated to order, then cut, machined and packed as a complete system before it leaves the factory.

Keeping the whole chain in New Zealand means we control the tolerances that matter — the fit between capping and box section, the seating of the glazing seal, the alignment of brackets to beams. It also means a colour change or a non-standard length is a scheduling question rather than an import order.

Because we manufacture locally, we can make bespoke work. Rafter lengths, post spacings, gutter details and glazing thicknesses are cut to the project rather than to a catalogue, and one-off components can be produced alongside standard runs.

The process

From extrusion to despatch, five stages sit behind every ClearSpan order.

  1. Extrusion

ClearSpan profiles are extruded locally from New Zealand aluminium to the ClearSpan section geometry, so the glazing channel holds its tolerance across every length.

  2. Powder coating

Profiles are coated to order rather than pulled from stock colour. Any colour from the Dulux Duralloy range is available, carrying its 10 year durability warranty, and anodised finishes are available where a natural metal look is wanted.

  3. Cutting and machining

Lengths are cut, drilled and machined to the measurements of the specific job — rafter centres, post spacings, gutter returns and bracket positions all set at this stage so the kit assembles without site modification.

  4. Glazing preparation

Polycarbonate, acrylic and glass panels are sized to the framework and matched to the sealing system, so the same universal channel takes sheet thicknesses from 4mm to 16mm.

  5. Kitting and despatch

Components, seals, brackets and fixings are packed as a complete system with installation instructions, then despatched nationwide from Kumeu.

Why local manufacturing matters

  • Bespoke

    Made to the job

Non-standard lengths, angles and one-off components are produced alongside standard runs rather than treated as exceptions.

  • Lead time

    Shorter supply chain

Extrusion, coating and fabrication all happen in New Zealand, so orders are scheduled locally rather than shipped and waited on.

  • Quality

    Controlled tolerances

Machining and assembly in one factory keeps the fit between capping, box section and seal consistent from batch to batch.

  • Colour

    Coated to order

Full Dulux Duralloy range with a 10 year durability warranty, plus anodised options.

  • Support

    Local technical backing

The people who make the system answer the technical questions, so specification advice comes from the factory floor.

  • NZ made

    New Zealand aluminium

Manufactured in Kumeu, West Auckland, using New Zealand aluminium — supporting local industry and local jobs.
